Single-Sided vs Double-Sided Flags
Single-sided flags are printed on one layer of knitted polyester with 80-90% show-through on the reverse. Double-sided flags consist of two knitted polyester layers with a blockout membrane sandwiched between them — all three layers stitched together for full opacity on both sides. Please note that flag bases are not covered by warranty when used with double-sided flags due to the additional weight.
Who Is It For?
Crest flags are popular with sports clubs, schools, universities, businesses, event organisers and brand promoters across Brighton & Hove and the wider UK. Ideal for outdoor events, trade shows, storefronts, sports days, corporate events and anywhere a high-impact branded flag display is needed.
Care & Maintenance
- Flags can be washed in a regular washing machine at 30°C with no detergents
- Always allow the flag to dry completely before storing
- Dismantle during adverse weather — do not use in winds exceeding Beaufort Scale 4 (13-18mph)
- Avoid placing poles too close together and ensure the flag does not catch or snag
- Air pollution may cause white areas to grey over time — UV exposure can cause fading
- Realistic maximum lifespan for a regularly used outdoor flag is six months
Artwork Setup
As standard, single-sided flag templates are set up with the front face of the design and the base and pole on the left-hand side. If you require the pole on the right-hand side, flip only the template shapes horizontally — do not flip the flag design itself. Frequently Asked Questions
What material are crest flags printed on?Crest flags are printed onto 117gsm knitted polyester using a dye-sublimation process. This produces vibrant, full colour results with 80-90% show-through on the reverse of the flag.
What sizes are available? We offer four sizes — Small (2560mm standing height), Medium (3150mm), Large (4080mm) and Extra Large (5140mm). Each size comes with the appropriate number of pole pieces and a choice of base options to suit your ground type.
What is the wind rating for crest flags? Our crest flags are rated to Beaufort Scale 4 (13-18mph). Always dismantle your flag during adverse weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy rain or storms. Heavy rain combined with high winds increases the weight of the flag and puts additional strain on the pole.
How long will my crest flag last outdoors? The realistic maximum lifespan of a regularly used outdoor flag is six months, depending on climatic conditions and flying hours. UV exposure can cause fading over time, and air pollution may cause white areas to grey. Proper care and storage will help extend the life of your flag.
What is the difference between single-sided and double-sided flags?Single-sided flags are printed on one layer of knitted polyester — the design shows through at 80-90% on the reverse. Double-sided flags have two printed layers with a blockout membrane between them for full opacity on both sides. Note that flag bases are not covered by warranty when used with double-sided flags due to the additional weight.
Which base should I choose for my flag?Base choice depends on the size of your flag and the type of ground it will be used on. Options typically include ground spike (for grass or soil), cross base (for hard surfaces) and water base (for hard surfaces requiring additional ballast). Always choose a base suitable for the size of flag you are ordering.
Can I collect from your Brighton shop?Yes — order online and collect from our print shop at 97 St James's Street, Brighton BN2 1TP. Standard turnaround is 3-4 working days.
Do you deliver across the UK?Yes — we offer UK-wide delivery on all orders. Select your preferred delivery option at checkout. Orders are dispatched from our Brighton & Hove print shop.
